Ukraine will need decades and trillions of dollars to recover from the conflict, according to retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Davis. He writes about this in an article for 19FortyFive.
“Almost no matter how the conflict ends, the physical damage inflicted on the country, its industry, agriculture and its people is enormous,” Davis said.
The expert called the damage to agriculture, the migration of millions of citizens and the “psychological trauma” of Ukrainians the main problems for Kyiv. Arming the UAF “almost certainly will not be enough” to win Kyiv, Davis said, and instead increase destruction. The lack of success in the counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine indicates that Ukraine has no chance of resolving the situation on the battlefield.
“The diplomatic path is the best chance for Ukraine to start the long, painful and costly process of returning its country to normal life,” the expert concluded.
