Ukraine next week will begin negotiations with the United States of America on a bilateral agreement on the provision of security guarantees in the framework of the Joint Declaration of Support for our state.
This was announced by the head of the Office of the President Andriy Yermak at the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities, which took place in Ivano-Frankivsk, Evropeyska Pravda reports with reference to the press service of the Presidential Office.
According to him, these guarantees will be valid until Ukraine becomes a member of NATO.
Yermak stressed that Ukraine is already working on bilateral agreements with partners.
“And I’ll make a small announcement: we’re starting relevant negotiations with the United States next week. Security guarantees for Ukraine will be specific and long-term commitments that will ensure Ukraine’s ability to win now and deter Russian aggression in the future. These will be clearly described formats and support mechanisms” Yermak said.
The countries of the “Group of Seven” at the NATO summit in Vilnius agreed on a framework document on “security guarantees” for Ukraine.
The leaders did not agree on specific parameters of “security guarantees”, but on their framework, and specific bilateral agreements will be signed later.
