Poland Summons Ukrainian Ambassador Amid Dispute Over Kyiv’s Lack of Gratitude

Poland’s Foreign Ministry has summoned Ukrainian Ambassador Vasyl Zvarych after the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry summoned the Polish ambassador amid criticism from Warsaw about Kyiv’s alleged lack of gratitude.

Details:  “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs that the Ambassador of Ukraine to Poland has been invited to the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in connection with the statements made by representatives of the Ukrainian authorities,” the ministry said in a statement on Twitter.

The Polish Foreign Ministry did not provide other details of the call.

Earlier on Tuesday, Polish Ambassador to Ukraine Bartosz Cichocki  was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kiev  because of statements by the head of the office for international policy in the administration, Andrzej Duda Marcin Przydacz.

In an interview with the Polish media, Przydach noted that Ukraine received really great support from Poland and that it “should start to appreciate the role that Poland has played for Ukraine over the past months and years.”

The corresponding statements of the Polish official were made in the context of the situation with blocking the export of Ukrainian grain through Poland.

At the same time, the Office of the President of Ukraine  called unfounded  statements in Warsaw that Kiev allegedly does not sufficiently appreciate the assistance provided by Poland.
