Ukraine Began Using Drones With Artificial Intelligence

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) received Saker Scout unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) with artificial intelligence. The country’s Ministry of Defense reported this on its telegram channel . Saker Scout complexes consist of a flagship reconnaissance drone and FPV-type kamikaze drones, which are adjusted, in particular, with the help of the first.

Advanced optics allows Saker Scout to detect and record the coordinates of even carefully camouflaged  enemy equipment and transmit information in real time to command posts. This reduces the risk of human error and allows for more accurate and rapid response to changing battlefield conditions, the ministry says.

The maximum flight range of the Saker Scout is 10 kilometers. Drones can be equipped with infrared optics for operation at night. They also have an inertial guidance system, which makes them less vulnerable to radar warfare. In addition, they integrate with all situational awareness systems, including the Delta system used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

In June, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky signed two documents to incentivize drone manufacturers during the war. These documents exempt importers of materials and equipment for the production and repair of UAVs from VAT and duties during martial law. However, businesses are required to report their use of these materials and face additional fines if misused.

At the beginning of May , eight UAV attack companies were created in Ukraine . They are armed with  attack copters, FPV drones and vehicles for transporting them.
