Tire recycling specialist Pyrum Innovations has announced plans to build a pyrolysis plant in the Czech Republic, working with a Czech energy group.

Scheduled to start operations in 2025, the new plant will have an expected capacity of 20,000 metric tons of used tires per year, and is being built in the Czech border region with Germany.

The unnamed Czech partner, which is active in the field of energy and environmental services, already operates a power plant on the property. The new Pyrum plant will be integrated into the partner’s existing plant, which already possesses a gas turbine that will convert the pyrolysis gas into electricity.

An engineering and consulting contract was signed with a subsidiary of the Czech energy group in order to prepare the approval for the construction plant, and to submit the building application.

Pascal Klein, CEO of Pyrum Innovations, said, “We are looking forward to this ground-breaking project.

“Using existing infrastructure to operate the new tire recycling facility is an approach that fits perfectly with Pyrum’s commitment to sustainability. The plans also underline the progressive internationalization of our company.”

As part of the consulting contract, Pyrum will carry out the basic engineering and prepare parts of the approval documents for the new plant.

The property offers sufficient space for future capacity expansion and the plant is being designed so that recycling capacities can be doubled by 2027.
